Who We Are
We are action oriented volunteers who love to ask, "How can I help?" We enjoy the satisfaction of project completion. We appreciate learning about conservation and land management in a hands-on, experiential setting.
Far more than free help, we are individuals that are interested in building our skills along with our relationships. We are part of an active and growing group of volunteers who assist the Open Space Authority in stewarding diverse landscapes. We are part of an important program at the Open Space Authority where many people first learn about what this agency is accomplishing and we value being part of that team.
What We Do
Land Steward volunteers assist Authority staff with trail maintenance, habitat restoration, fencing and cleanup projects on the Authority’s lands. All tools, safety equipment and training are provided for the day of the project. Land Steward projects occur regularly from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays, nearly year round.
Volunteers must arrive prepared with their own water, snacks, and protective clothing for the work day.
Requirements
- No training or prior experience required
- Youth volunteers (age 14-17) are welcome, accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- All participants must have a complete volunteer profile and release form.
