Who We Are
We are "gate-openers" who help guests get oriented to the trails and features found in our Open Space Preserves. We help the public with hike recommendations, the latest trail conditions, weather and safety information. We love for others to feel welcome and included.
What We Do
Preserve Steward volunteers serve the public in our staging areas and on trail. These volunteers can interpret our natural lands for guests and help identify great hikes based on visitor desires.
When we host Public Access Days in properties that are not open to the public every day, Preserve Stewards help us receive and greet guests, orient them to the opportunities available, and ensure guests go out and come back safely.
Preserve Stewards also support Authority programming by providing informal interpretation, being sweeps for guided hikes, and by supporting visitor needs during educational events such as Starry Nights programs.
At Mayyan Ooyakma Coyote Ridge, Preserve Steward volunteers play an integral role on our Habitat Protection Team. They are active in the daily operation of the preserve ensuring that all guests who come for a hike understand the unique requirements needed for visitors to enjoy such a unique habitat.
Requirements
