Who We Are
We enjoy sharing our love of nature with others. Time in open space can be challenging for many people, we enjoy facilitating positive experiences for the public in lands managed by the Open Space Authority. Our programs and activities are welcoming and inclusive for all members of our community. We provide opportunities for visitors to be a part of a shared experience in places that exist for our enjoyment and enrichment.
As interpretive docents we strive to translate the natural environment around us so we can all have a more connected experience when enjoying nature.
What We Do
Docents share information about the natural environment, lead groups on fun, informational hikes and receive special training on how to effectively lead groups. Docents commit to participating in at least one program per quarter, and must pass a fingerprint background check (fees for background checks are paid for by the Authority). Docent training is annual, with weekend classes in late February through early March. Docents must be at least 18 years of age.
