Join VET's staff from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 or Sunday, January 12, 2025 to learn all about how to use interpretive techniques for engaging and serving our community!
Context
Interpretive Host Training is our foundation for all volunteers. This training provides an introduction to the theories of personal interpretation, our mission, how to connect with an audience and share information, this is also the start of training for new docents. All new volunteers are required to attend Interpretive Host Training if they wish to partake in any of the following roles: Trail Patrol, Community Outreach, Docent, and Preserve Steward volunteers.
Training Overview
Interpretive host training consists of two parts, over the course of three weekends. Volunteers attend ONE session, per part. Please see details below for the role-specific required trainings:

PART ONE
Attendees need to attend: Saturday, January 11, 2025 OR Sunday, January 12, 2025 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Tilton Ranch Complex. Attend only one date.
PART TWO
Attendees wishing to help at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma as a preserve steward this spring need to attend a second session: Saturday, February 22, 2025 or Saturday, March 1, 2025. 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve. Attend only one date.
When you sign up: please let us know in the notes if you need a volunteer shirt and/or name tag. Please sign up before January 8 to ensure staff have time to prepare you a name-tag, volunteer shirt, and to send out directions. If you wish to register after this date, please contact Kat directly at khill@openspaceauthority.org so that we can make sure you are ready to join us.
