UPDATE 1/31/25: The incoming storms/rain and the success of recent staff and volunteer trail brushing efforts have led us to pivot our planned activity back to trail tread for this coming event.
TM Volunteer support request for Trail Brushing at Coyote Valley OSP. Given the lack of rain this winter we are pivoting away from trail tread and addressing some trail brushing needs. Power tools and hand tools such as loppers will be available and used, dependent on volunteer numbers and preferences.
Please meet in the main staging area at 9:00 a.m. and get the plan from field staff for the day. Hiking of 30 minutes or so will be required to reach sections of trail requiring attention. If needed we might shuttle volunteers in staff trucks to save time.
Note the start time is 9:00 a.m. not the usual 8:00 a.m., we need the later start to accommodate staff logistics. We will also be running a 5 hour day as there is some time spent accessing the work locations. If any volunteers need to leave early, due to fitness or due to other commitments just inform the staff lead in the morning. Volunteers should pace themselves and take breaks, stay hydrated and fueled. Remember: "Taking care of yourself is taking care of the team!"
