Description

We are seeking two sweeps to come help with a hike being led by one of our docents, Vib. She will be leading a 'Fresh Air and Flowers' type hike at Mayyan Ooyakma at 10:30 a.m. All hike helpers will need to be at the staging area at 10 a.m. and the hike will be led around the entire 5-mile loop. We do not have any other programs happening on March 7 because of docent training.

For more information about Fresh Air and Flower- Please see below!

To help protect this sensitive and unique ecosystem, in March, April, and May the trails will be open by reservation ONLY on Saturdays and Sundays. During this time, the public must sign up here for a volunteer-led hike to access the Bay Checkerspot trail, the Tule Elk Trail, and the Serpentine Spring Trail.

In addition to our educational/interpretive 'Habitat Protection Hikes' we are offering 'Fresh Air and Flowers' Hikes. These are intended to be less educational,  have minimal stops, while still giving the public guided access on the ridge. Please note that this March 7 starts at 10 a.m. (with the official hike starting at 10:30 a.m.).

Below is the Info We Provide to Public Attendees: These guided hikes up the Bay Checkerspot Trail will have over 500 ft of elevation gain. The loop hike has steep ascents and descents. Comfortable hiking shoes and hiking poles are recommended.
