We are looking for one or two sweeps to help with a guided hike at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve on Friday November 24th from 8:30am – 1:00pm!
As a sweep you will stay in the back of the group of hikers helping to answer any questions and keeping the group together. The actual program will be from 9:00am – 1:00pm, but you will arrive at 8:30am to check in with the docent leading the hike and greet guests as they arrive. This hike will be about 5 miles along the Mayfair Ranch and Longwall Canyon Trail. This trail has some challenging uphill and downhill sections along with a creek crossing!
What to bring: Please bring comfortable hiking shoes, warm layers, plenty of snacks and water, and of course wear your volunteer shirt.
About the event: This hike is a part of our Hike Your Pie Off event. Every year on the day after Thanksgiving, we invite the public out to the preserves to spend time in nature! This year we are offering a guided hike at each of preserves (Sierra Vista, Coyote Valley, Rancho Cañada del Oro, and Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge) to celebrate.
How to get there: Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve is located at 4289 Casa Loma Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037. For more information about Rancho Cañada del Oro check out our website: Rancho Cañada del Oro (openspaceauthority.org)
