We are looking for docents to lead some guided hikes on December 6th, 13th, and 20th that we call Walking Wednesdays at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve from 11:00am - 12:30pm!
As a docent you will lead this hike and help all guests learn a little more about this preserve. This hike will be brief, that main goal is to encourage the public to take a break during their workday, enjoy the new preserve, and maybe learn something new. The actual program will be from 11:30am – 12:30pm, but you will arrive at 11:00am to greet guests as they arrive. As a docent you have full creative freedom to create the program you’d like. If you have questions or who like help coming up with ideas, email Michelle Garcia at mgarcia@openspaceauthority.org
What to bring: Please bring comfortable hiking shoes, warm layers, plenty of snacks and water, and of course wear your volunteer shirt.
About the event: Do the holidays bring you stress? Come walk on Wednesdays. Escape from work for the lunch break, escape the house, escape to open space and come take a leisurely stroll through our Gateway lower area of the preserve. Join a docent or staff for pleasant conversation about nature and the part you have played in helping to preserve it. Or, if you wish, sign in and stroll in the peacefulness of your solitude. The preserve is open from 10am – 4pm but if you feel more comfortable visiting with new friends and walking partners, please feel free to join us from 11:30 – 12:30.
How to get there: Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve is located at 9611 Malech Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037. For more information about Máyyan ‘Ooyákma check out our website: Máyyan 'Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge (openspaceauthority.org)
