We are looking for one or two sweeps to help with a silent guided hike at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve on Saturday December 16th from 3:00pm – 6:30pm!
As a sweep you will stay in the back of the group of hikers helping to answer any questions and keeping the group together. The actual program will be from 3:30pm – 6:30pm, but you will arrive at 3:00pm to check in with Michelle and greet guests as they arrive. This hike will be about 5 miles along the Mayfair Ranch and Longwall Canyon Trail. This trail has some challenging uphill and downhill sections along with a creek crossing!
What to bring: Please bring comfortable hiking shoes, a headlamp/ flashlight, warm layers, plenty of snacks and water, and of course wear your volunteer shirt.
About the event: Are you tired of all the noise around you? How would you like a different experience? Come take a silent hike of the Mayfair trail at Rancho Canada del Oro. This 4.5 mile trail has about a 700ft elevation gain, is a wonderfully constructed trail, and goes through several different types of natural settings from grasslands, to creekside, to beautiful sweeping views. The best part is, no talking. Your guide will provide sensory experiences to enhance this walk without words. Don’t think you can do it? There will be stops where talking is allowed. Come try this new experience and walk in the twilight with other lovers of nature.
