As a sweep you will support the lead docent by helping to answer questions, hiking in the back of the group to keep everyone together. I set up this shift to start 30 minutes before the actual hike, so you have time to get there and check in with the docent leading the hike before it starts.
When parking at Coyote Ridge please turn RIGHT after the entrance gate and park on the right side of the road/ trail. Because this is a weekday event you shouldn't need to carpool, but I will make sure you get the emails to the other volunteers helping in case you decide to.

Extended Educational Guided Hikes at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma - Coyote Ridge

Máyyan ‘Ooyákma – Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve
There is a lot to see this March at Máyyan ‘Ooyákma - Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve. We will take our time during this educational guided hike with frequent stops, to look for wildflowers, butterflies, elk, and more! On this 5-mile hike we will learn how the serpentine grasslands of Coyote Ridge provide refuge for a wide variety of rare plants and wildlife, some of which have teetered on the edge of extinction. This hike has about 1,000ft of elevation gain, hiking boots and poles are strongly recommended.
What to bring: Please wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring plenty of snacks and water, and any additional jackets and/or sun protection.
