We are looking for the help of a few docents to help with the Ribbon Cutting Event for the new "Hidden Meadow Trail" on Saturday June 8th from 10:30am - 1:00pm at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve!
As a docent at this event you will...
1) Help at sensory stations around the loop where visitors can listen to woodpeckers, smell Bay Laurel leaves, touch (fake) deer scat, and more! As a docent at one of these stations you will help answer questions people have about the station and help answer general nature based questions.
2) Walk around and chat with guests! As you walk the new trail you will also be a friendly face to visitors and help answer any nature based questions. Our goal is for this to be a fun and casual way to educate visitors.
What to Bring: Your volunteer shirt and name tag, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection, and plenty of water and snacks
About the Event: This event is to celebrate the OFFICAL opening of a new trail at Rancho Cañada del Oro! This event will officially start at 11:00am with speeches by our General Manager, Andrea Makenzie, and Executive Director and Founder of Bay Area Older Adults, Anne Furguson. After speeches they will cut the ribbon, take some photos, and let everyone hike the new loop!
This new trail is a flat ADA accessible trail that follows the outside edge of a beautiful open meadow surrounded by oaks, bay laurels, and sycamore trees. The Llagas creek almost completely surrounds the trail. With this trail and the Llagas Meadow Loop trail there will be nearly 1 mile of accessible trails at Rancho Cañada del Oro.

How to Get There: This event will be at Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve: 4289 Casa Loma Rd, Morgan Hill, CA, 95037. For this event please park in the overflow lot. The overflow lot will be about 200ft after the main parking lot on your left hand side.
